Derwen is the Guthix mage arena guardian. Fighting and defeating him can earn you the Guthix staff and the Imbued guthix cape.

Requirements

Recommended: Prestige 3 Magic Level 99+ | Prestige 2-3 Defence Level 99+.

Getting there

Use the Portal nexus located north of spawn. Under bosses find Mage Arena.
Travel fee: 150k.

Mechanics

Derwen will hit with Melee. Use Protect from Melee.

  • He will summon lightning which will then strike after a few ticks.
    • Move 1 tile; This attack hits in a checkerboard like pattern.
  • Derwen will summon Derwimps that will make him invulnerable.
    • Use barrage spells to kill them easily.
      • A minion or two might be in the wall on the spawn, just move a few tiles and they should be fixed.
    • Standing 1 tile south-east of the statue is the best starting location to avoid derwimp wall spawns.
