Patch notes/Oct 15 2024
Update from Oct 15 2024
This update brings the return of Hard Mode Zulrah ("Danger Snek") with new rewards including the Blazing Blowpipe and the Serpentine Grasp gloves. Additionally, the update introduces Olympian component conversion options, rebalances the Heavenly bow, adds the new Talaria boots, and includes various Halloween-related improvements and bug fixes.
Hard Mode Zulrah
Zulrah's dangerous cousin Danger Snek has made a return, and is ready to kick some asses.
Zulrah will have a chance to drop toxic orbs. Toxic orbs are used to enter the hard mode zulrah fight.
Toxic orbs can also be crafted from Zulrah's scales, or unique components.
Rewards
- Serpentine, Tanzanite, and Magma crests are Slayer helmet (I) upgrades that use drops from Zulrah and Danger Snek
- These provide Slayer helmet (I) slayer bonuses, and ranged/magic/melee stats at serp helm tier, respectively
- Serpentine Grasps are new ranged gloves which have a special effect that adds 15% of your max hit to your minimum hit if you are venomed
- There is also a "Self-venom" option on the Grasps which will let you enter that status effect at will for more consistently higher DPS
- The Grasps work like the Serpentine helmet, giving a chance to apply venom to your target
- New pet - Danger snek will sometimes drop a dangerous snekling, which is much much stronger than the regular Zulrah pet
- Blazing blowpipe is a new blowpipe upgrade, with higher strength bonus and lower attack bonus, requiring you to leverage attack levels and bonus from other gear in order to do high DPS against higher level mobs
- This is charged, with a separate charge pool to the other Zulrah items, and is more expensive to upkeep
Olympian raid component changes
There's a new vendor next to the Olympian Raid portal who will sell you Olympian Component Downgrade Tokens and Olympian Component Side-Grade Tokens.
We want to provide a way to convert some Olympian components down and sideways (i.e. not upgrading components to rarer ones). This is to provide a way to consume excess Olympian components which perhaps are less valuable to you or the economy, and produce other components of similar or lesser rarity.
This is not meant to be an easy or cheap way to get Olympian components. It is to serve a specific purpose, at a very high cost.
- Olympian trees are also able to be chopped near the donator woodcutting zones, along the west wall. These can be used in the new recipe to craft Olympian fabric at the loom.
Heavenly bow + Luminary set changes
The Heavenly bow has been lacking. We've heard you.
- Attack speed reduced from 6 to 5
- Luminary set bonus will trigger a second attack with the Heavenly bow, dealing up to 33% of your max hit
Talaria
These are new boots, combining the 3 Cerberus boots, plus some other Olympian components, to create a pair of unique tribrid boots that come with a special effect:
- While moving, take 25% less damage
Proccing this effect will be shown with some subtle feathers flying past you, as you swiftly dodge attacks and take less damage while you're on the move.
Halloween and Bug Fixes
- Some key prices in the Halloween shop have been lowered
- Breaches should stop spawning Jhallans in such high density, and breach NPCs should stop spawning far off in the water
- Hephaestus will randomly pick different targets each time he goes to smash his hammer in a particular direction
- Corp's core will now appear on its actual tile, instead of appearing to be somewhere else whilst damaging you
- Seren's spirit should now render above other NPCs instead of being hidden under them
- Halloween trick tasks have had their sweet rewards buffed from 2/4/12 to 5/10/18
- HCGIMs will no longer lose lives within breaches
- Scythes extra hits on 3x3 and larger NPCs have had their extra 2 hitsplats reduced from up to 50%/25% down to 33%/15%, as these were dominating the melee meta too hard, out-DPSing weapons 20 or more tiers higher than them
