Update from Dec 19 2024

This major update introduces two challenging hard mode boss fights - Ignis (Hard Mode Cerberus) and Azrael (Hard Mode Nex) - along with powerful new rewards including Cerberite gear and Sanguine Torva upgrades. The update also includes numerous game balance changes, notably the removal of the Aggression PvM talent and a new mechanic to heal NPC HP after combat.

Ignis (Hard Mode Cerberus)

Ignis is a challenging new encounter, which you will benefit from bringing all 3 attack styles to, that provides a new set of high tier melee gear to the table.

Access

  • Key Master Teleports will now drop from cerberus as part of the common table, which allow you to enter the Hard Mode fight
  • You also get a bunch of these by completing Cerberus achievements
  • With 50 of these teleports, you can unlock permanent free access to the Hard Mode cerb by using the "Unlock-hard-mode" option on the teleport scroll
  • With free access unlocked, you can use the winch like normal, but using the "Turn-hard" option

Rewards

Cerberite Slayer Helmet

  • Has the slayer helm effects of an imbued slayer helm
  • Has tier 100 melee crush stats
  • Requires P2L1 Slayer, and P2L1 Defence to equip
  • Is not tradeable
  • Adds a flat +5 damage to demons

Cerberite Grippers

  • Has tier 100 melee crush stats
  • Requires P2L1 Strength, and P2L1 Defence to equip
  • Is tradeable
  • Adds a flat +5 damage to demons
  • Has a 5% chance on melee hits to cause the target to burn over 5 burn stacks for the damage of the initial hit that procced it

Cerberite Warhammer

  • Has tier 100 melee crush stats
  • Requires P3L1 Strength to equip
  • Is tradeable
  • Has a 50% energy cost spec attack which does the same as the regular DWH, but additionally (15 sec cooldown) will spawn a fiery glyph on the floor beneath you, giving you 10% increased melee damage for up to 12 ticks while you stand on it

Azrael (Hard Mode Nex)

Azrael takes the existing Nex encounter, but dials it up to make it a far more punishing and challenging encounter for the most gamer of gamers.

Beware that certain mechanics are tweaked slightly and will kill you very quickly! Be sure to understand and follow the mechanics very carefully to survive and thrive.

Rewards

On top of boosted rare drop rates, Azrael will drop some unique items for you to upgrade your loadout.

Ancient Blood Ornament Kit

  • To top off your melee DPS cake with some cherries, obtain 6 ornament kits to fully upgrade your Torva armour
  • The Sanguine Torva set will increase the flurry proc chance boost from 20% more chance to proc to 33% more chance to proc
  • This brings the 15% proc chance at 5 talent points to a 20% chance
  • Additionally, when equipping the full Sanguine Torva set, your flurry proc will have a different graphic show above you to better represent the Zarosian Blood power
  • Sanguine Torva is also Tier 120 stats, which is 5 tiers above regular Torva

Zarosian Essence

  • A way to upgrade your Nex pet
  • There's a very rare chance upon killing Azrael to receive a Zarosian Essence
  • This can be used, alongside a handful of Nihil Shards, on an existing Nexling for a 50% chance to turn it into Lil Azz, the Azrael pet
  • Failing the upgrade will not make you lose your Nexling

Other changes

  • The Festive Holly Leaderboard now shows the total holly gathered, will no longer have duplicate entries for players whose donator rank changes, and will now exclude players who are disqualified from the event for cheating or foul play
  • The Frozen Cache from slayer NPC kills during the Christmas Event now has a rare chance to give you an exclusive new Frozen Halo, and will also award a whole lot more Festive Holly
  • Gathering flasks will no longer provide the +15% flat success chance for onyx and zenyte thieving stalls
  • Ranged strength bonus will no longer be taken into account from ammunition for the blazing blowpipe (e.g. equipping bolts at the same time)
  • NPC HP will be automatically healed back to full after at least 30 seconds out of combat, allowing irons to be able to get loot from NPCs that have been tagged and ditched by other players
  • Aggression (PvM talent) has been removed, and may make a comeback in the future with some significant rebalancing to the game
  • All talent points spent on Aggression will automatically be freed up to be spent on other talents
  • Hard mode bosses have a 1000 cap for damage applied to them
  • All comp capes will now save ammo

Post update patches

  • The cerberite gloves burn effect will only work when you actually have the gloves equipped now
  • The hard mode damage cap should work properly now
  • Zalcano will no longer heal to full after not being hit for 30 seconds
  • Pets will no longer hit through damage immunity
