Summary
This update introduces important account security features: two-factor authentication through the website and an in-game PIN system to protect banks, looting bags, and Grand Exchange access. As an incentive, players who set up both security features will receive a permanent +3% drop rate boost. The update also includes further improvements to reduce disconnection issues.
Account Security
There have been a few hiccups across the RSPS community with data leaks.
Some people make stupid decisions and reuse passwords from other servers. I want to provide more ways for you to safeguard your accounts, and protect your items.
Two-factor authentication
The website has been updated with an account summary page, where you'll be able to set up 2fa for your account. https://august-rsps.com/account
1. Click "Setup 2fa" 2. Scan the QR code in your authenticator app 3. Enter the code it generates, and submit 4. Enter the code when you log in to the website or game client when it prompts you
PIN
We've added in a way to set your PIN, with ::setpin, and schedule a change to your PIN with ::changepin.
This will prevent access to:
- Bank
- Withdrawing from looting bag
- Grand exchange
Use the Runelite Bank plugin to allow you to type your PIN with your keyboard. This makes it so much easier to use.
We encourage that absolutely everyone sets up 2fa and a PIN.
Use these tools to your advantage. There is a +3% perma drop rate while you have both of these set up!
Other updates
- We've made even further progress towards reducing the frustrating user experience with constant disconnections. This should be noticeably improved, and make a lot of situations far less frustrating
- Thermy pet will no longer drop to the ground as an item if you're lucky enough to get one
