Tempering is a game mechanic in August that allows you to increase the power of your tiered equipment, by sacrificing duplicate copies of a piece of gear.
To tell if a piece of equipment is tiered, examine it, and it will show a level in brackets in the examine text (For example, Diamond legs say "[T95] I feel like I'd be pretty safe in this", indicating the item is tier 95).
How To
In order to temper a piece of gear, head to the Tempering Bench in the crafting area by running south of home, or using the ::afk
command in-game.

Once in the tempering interface, select an item from your inventory, and you'll have the option to temper it, sacrificing a duplicate copy of that item from your inventory to provide a +3% bonus to the offensive and defensive stats provided by the item.
