New page

The Drop rate is the frequency at which an NPC, chest, or other lootable source is expected to yield a certain item when killed or looted by the player.

For a more in-depth analysis of specific elements like Weighting and Grouping, see the Loot mechanics page.

Identifying Drop Rate
In August, most drop rates can be identified by either searching the Wiki, or right-click examine the NPC in-game that you are looking to identify.

When viewing either of these sources, you may see that the drop rate is expressed as "Common" or "Rare", instead of with a specific number.
* Note that this is intentional and means the exact rate is being obfuscated.

Probability
Drop rates such as "1 in 5" do not guarantee such a drop will be obtained after 5 kills. Instead, it can be thought that on average, a player would receive the drop once per 5 kills, with the chance to receive more or less.

Important note: This section does not take into account drop rate Weighting, so please review this page accordingly to verify your understanding.
